Overview :

When you create many times the same widgets, you must change each time the options and presentation parameters. With the patterns, you can create options and presentation patterns for each kind of widget, that you will reuse. When you create an new widget, you can choose among your patterns, or change each of the custom parameters. .

 

Exemple : 

You create three differents buttons themes : pale green, brown and orange. When you create new buttons, choose one of these three patterns to apply the colours and settings on your new button.

 

Use cases :

- Save time when creating widgets, you create your patterns and reuse them in any new widget.
- Ensure compliance with the web design of your website. You designer create all the needed patterns for the widgets of the website.
- The patterns can be used to ensure compliance with the graphic charter of your website.You can allow your clients to change themselves the content, but not the presentation, or let them only choose among your patterns. See advanced features.

 

Save current settings as a new widget :

This is the simpliest way to create a pattern.

In the configuration screen of a widget, go in the "Options" panel, clicking on the upper toolbar. Edit all the parameters and change any settings you want. Use the "Save as pattern" button. This orange button is in the top-right side of the Options header. A title is required, and you can add an optional description.

 

Choose pattern :

In the configuration screen of a widget, go in the "Options" panel, clicking on the upper toolbar. Choose as main style a pattern : click on the "Pattern" button.

You can see on the screen the available patterns. Choose one pattern. You can see in the preview panel your widget with these chosen options. Save your options screen. The widget is created.

When you save the pattern with new settings, the changes will be effective instantanely on any widget using this pattern.

When you edit patterns, you use the patterns manager window. This manager allows you to create patterns, duplicate, edit, or remove patterns.
All changes are effective instantanely on any widget using this pattern.

 

Advanced features :

Use permissions settings to allow your author users to choose patterns when they create new content and new widgets.

You can allow each group of user to :

- edit content
- choose preset patterns
- edit custom settings
- manage patterns. 

Permissions can be setted :

- for all the web site
- or for each kind of widget (sliders, grids, buttons...)
- or for one particular widget.
